Al Bahr Towers
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
The project consists of twin 25 storey towers, located in the busy Salam Street area of Abu Dhabi city. One tower will be the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC), while the other will be the main office for the newly-established Al Hilal Bank
The following Gyproc systems were specified and used in the project:
- Gyproc ShaftWall – The fire rated partition system built quickly and easily from one side only.
- GypWall CLASSIC – Designed and calculated to withstand a load of 532 Pascals using only standard Gypframe components in conjunction with two layers of Gyproc boards to both sides.
- GypWall CURVE – To provide an adaptable aesthetic solution that still provides great performance.
- Gyproc MF Ceiling – A contractors favourite. Used to improve acoustic performance as well as creating plenums for MEP etc
Challenges
- To build high performance partitions that can only be constructed from one side due to limited access.
- Partitions that are able to withstand a high level of lateral pressure (or UDL), of over 500 Pascals – all within a limited thickness.
- Highly aesthetic curved partitions to differing radii.
- Ensuring all partitions are able to support a selection of light, medium & heavy fixtures and MEP services.
Outcome
High performing partitions specifically designed to meet the projects performance criteria were quickly designed and installed. Coupled with regular site visits and continued technical advice by the GyprocTechnical Team, ensured a professional build and complete peace of mind to the client.
